The journey to/in India part VII

It is time to go(fastly) on to the next chapter of the journey in India. For those who follow, check if you missed the last entry(from Corbett- Karnaprayag). If yes, click here !

Alright. We drove about 3 hours from Karnaprayag to Joshimath. We stayed at Snow Crest Hotel. It is a cheap hotel, located very close to the main street, where you will find all kinds of shops. And also nearby the main road through the whole town, which means that cars, vans and buses make noises from early in the morning(4am)! But we got fantastic view from the our window. The hotel's crew were very nice. There is a man, who acts really nice and polited to the guests. He smiled and talked well English. In my opinion Snow Crest was the best hotel of the whole trip. It was clean and good service! This hotel has my highest recommendation.

As we arrived the hotel we had a little break after we went out to have lunch. And we went into a local restaurant just some metres from the hotel. The restaurant was tiny, dark and seemed to be the town's most popular one! When I think about it, something remind me about Thailand. For an European or a foreigner, this restaurant would seem like a dirty, dark hole. But for those people, the most important thing for them is the quality of food, not who it looks like in the restaurant. And I am sure that the owner has been busy since the first opening day, so he had no time to get things fixed/ replaced. I fully understand the situation from both parts. After we finished our lunch, we went for a walk through the main street with lots of shop. What I really enjoyed was to see the real Indian culture. I saw shops in real Indian style. What I felt uncomfortable was definetly how people stared at us, especially men! It is nothing wrong that they stare, but stare without having any expression on their face made us(women) feel odd and awkward. I bet that no one would pay any attention on me if I walked alone... That day I could not do that, because I did not know where to go..

The next day in Joshimath, we took the cable car to Auli. Auli is the primary skiing spot in India. So its high season is in November- December, because people get there to ski. From Auli you will see the panorama view of a part of Himalaya. Auli is located about 3'000 AMSL!

Joshimath and Auli are both very beautiful places and I think I liked being there! I would go back to Auli in November one day. Who wants to join, so put your hands up! \O/

View from Auli. And here you see the cable bar station.
Greet our snowman. I love the background!
I builed a mountain.
Isn't it amazing view of Himlaya?
