The journey to/in India part VII

It is time to go(fastly) on to the next chapter of the journey in India. For those who follow, check if you missed the last entry(from Corbett- Karnaprayag). If yes, click here !

Alright. We drove about 3 hours from Karnaprayag to Joshimath. We stayed at Snow Crest Hotel. It is a cheap hotel, located very close to the main street, where you will find all kinds of shops. And also nearby the main road through the whole town, which means that cars, vans and buses make noises from early in the morning(4am)! But we got fantastic view from the our window. The hotel's crew were very nice. There is a man, who acts really nice and polited to the guests. He smiled and talked well English. In my opinion Snow Crest was the best hotel of the whole trip. It was clean and good service! This hotel has my highest recommendation.

As we arrived the hotel we had a little break after we went out to have lunch. And we went into a local restaurant just some metres from the hotel. The restaurant was tiny, dark and seemed to be the town's most popular one! When I think about it, something remind me about Thailand. For an European or a foreigner, this restaurant would seem like a dirty, dark hole. But for those people, the most important thing for them is the quality of food, not who it looks like in the restaurant. And I am sure that the owner has been busy since the first opening day, so he had no time to get things fixed/ replaced. I fully understand the situation from both parts. After we finished our lunch, we went for a walk through the main street with lots of shop. What I really enjoyed was to see the real Indian culture. I saw shops in real Indian style. What I felt uncomfortable was definetly how people stared at us, especially men! It is nothing wrong that they stare, but stare without having any expression on their face made us(women) feel odd and awkward. I bet that no one would pay any attention on me if I walked alone... That day I could not do that, because I did not know where to go..

The next day in Joshimath, we took the cable car to Auli. Auli is the primary skiing spot in India. So its high season is in November- December, because people get there to ski. From Auli you will see the panorama view of a part of Himalaya. Auli is located about 3'000 AMSL!

Joshimath and Auli are both very beautiful places and I think I liked being there! I would go back to Auli in November one day. Who wants to join, so put your hands up! \O/

View from Auli. And here you see the cable bar station.
Greet our snowman. I love the background!
I builed a mountain.
Isn't it amazing view of Himlaya?

The journey to/in India part VI

We started the trip in the morning, heading to Karnprayag, a village between Corbett and Joshimath. The trip was long and hot. The van hd to use so much power that we dropped the aircondition. And there we were sitting on skin immitated seats and sweated like never before. How shall I discribe the trip? It was very nice and also very dangerous. It was really nice to see the country side of India and as we drove up the hills, we really could catch the most amazing view of India. The road was really bumpy and since that we had to "climb" up on the mountain walls, the road was also very narrow with lots of turn. In the end I start feeling sick.

During the trip we stopped to have lunsh at "Hotel Kamaon Presidency", I guess.. But it was in Chakutia. The location was big and the toilets were clean. Thumbs' up for that! And there were two girls and two boys who were sitting in the next corner of the restaurant. They were laughing and had a good time, untill some of us wanted to take pictures of them. Oh, they felt so embarresed, esspecially the girls who giggled always.. They were cute, though.

We arrived in Karnaprayag at 8 pm and stayed at "Shri Krishna Palace". It is an alright hotel. The bed is alright and so the bathroo. But the view is fabulous! The hotel is located beside two rives where they meet. On the rightside of the hotel there is a bridge, which is very charming. The food at the hotel was really cheap and fastly served. But you can only get vegitarian food there, and I am gladly that I could have vegitarian menu, because I only ate chicken since the arrival day. That hotel has to be a meeting spot for mouscitoes! They are everywhere and I got som many bites already the first night. What incredible is; I got bites on my shoulders, legs, belly and beside my armpits, although I wore a long cardigan and full lenght of trousers that day! That was the horrible experience and memory of this hotel.

The agriculture in that part of India is definetly the most special one! Since people live on the hills/ on the maintains' wall, you cannot expect seeing normal agriculture.. if you have seen how chinese people(who live in the mountains) grow rice? It is almost the same methode. Or, I shall not say for sure which methode they use, I know so little about agriculture... Anyways, I will paste some pictures for you to watch and enjoy!

This is a house located on the edge of the mountain, beside the narrow road. It's incredible how they live.
And upon the last house there were more houses! It must be really hard to walk up...
Tiredsome, bumpy and hot!
Somewhere we stopped. So here is the heeler.
 A boy.
Three generations.
A mini version of an Indian local shop. I like the way they hang chips and drops like in the picture!
So this is what I talked about. The special and amazing agriculture.
These ladies are so cute! They are carying animal feed.
The bridge beside the hotel.
On the left side of the hotel. See, I told you about two rivers.
And on the oposite side of the hotel there is a house with stairs. Looks like a stage or something.. I find it beautiful!
Ok. So let's end this entry with a picture of me. Haha.
