The journey to/in India part I

Sorry. It has been a while since I posted an entry here. After I came home I found a bit hard to get on with normal daily routine. I started from the very first week to work again, then the next week after the arrival I had an AFS- Orientationcamp. Cause to the differences of the weather in India and Northern Norway and stress, I did catch cold. Do not worry, I am doing fine now.

Here I am, as I promised, with explainations, pictures and stories I want to share. Just get ready!

The trip started early in the morning of 27th March in Tromsø with my best friend's parents. We took a flight from Tromsø to Oslo, where we met my best friend and checked in for our next stop, Helsinki, and the final destination, New Delhi. As we all have checked in our guide sent an sms and told us that he could not come along. I know I wrote it in the last entry too, but in case that you have not read it yet, so please read the last entry before reading this one. You can read it by clicking >>Here<<
We met the other 3 persons in Oslo, who we knew from the very beginning that they were going to travel with us. We had lots of time in the airport of Helsinki to get know each other and also do window shopping. They are very nice people. I and my best friend were talking about that we hopefully will not be sitting beside someone who is big(or even huge). I usually have bad luck. Also on the flight from Helsinki to New Delhi, where I sat beside a big man, who snored when he slept. Sometimes as he was sleeping he suddenly stopped breathing... I was scared if his heart would stop beating! It felt really uncomfortable sitting there having little space. I could not sleep well, but luckily the flight had a little screen where I could watch a movie or listen to the radio... I did not get bored, though. Haha.

Waiting for check in the luggage in Tromsø
Waiting for check in the luggage in Gardemoen, Oslo. Here you see the Swiss airline.
Still waiting in the queue.. Here you see my best friend to the left and her father in the center with the camera.
Waiting to get on board in Helsinki at gate 31.
As we arrived to New Delhi, we got another message that the bus company, the one which we supposed to travel around in India with, went broke- but there will be a man whol will pick us up at the exit. After we have got our luggage and changed money we went out, and the man was there. What our guide did not tell us was, this man could not speak English. However we got someone to translate and we went on heading to the Hotel, early in the morning. I am not sure how far the Hotel is from the airport, but it took about 20-30 minutes by car. But this was early in the morning, just before the rush hour, you see... As we arrived in the Hotel we checked in and relaxed for a couple of hours before we went on sight- seeing in Delhi and having delicious lunch at a fabulous bling-bling Indian restaurant. After the delicious meal we drove to visit the Lotus Temple, but it was closed because it was on a Sunday. So if you want to visit the Lotus Temple, do not visit it on a Sunday! After that we went back to the hotel and there we met 2 men, who wanted to help us with the round trip in India.

 The Eurostar Hotel.
Commercial in Delhi.
This is a funny picture. So amateur.
But it is impossible to take a perfect shot when you are sitting in a car in Delhi.
It says: "No U-turn". Then I would ask if I can turn?
A bit more of the trafic in Delhi.
In London you will find Piccadilly. In Delhi you will find Piccadelhi.

I did not take any picture of the bling-bling Indian restaurant, exept of the people who I travelled with. But I accept the rules about posting pictures in blogs or wherever, therefor I have no picture to show you from the restaurant.

The name of the restaurant is not bling-bling Indian restaurant, it is just from its look, the real name of the restaurant is Véda Restaurant. Very good service, delicious food, a bit over decorated- but astonishingly very nice, the waiters understood/ spoke English well, clean in the bathroom and in my opinion it should have more lights. I recommend this restaurant to everybody. See others' opinions >>Here<<
The Europestar Hotel is ok. Not too far from the airport, quite clean, a bit too much noices from the outside, no breakfast(I think it is because we left there so early), good price, very nice service, but hard to find(if we did not had a driver). I find this hotel pretty OK.  I would not recommend this to anybody. If you are not picky, this hotel might be something for you. But chek others' opinions >>Here<< , to be sure if this hotel is something for you.

  2. Most travel is best of all in the anticipation or the remembering; the reality has more to do with losing your luggage.
