NEWS: Unfortunately there are no photos in this blog. Why? Because I ran out of the photo-storage-thing, so I can not post pictures my blogs anymore, unless I pay... Which is not going to happen right away. I will put a link in the end of the entry for you to watch the pictures. (I am sorry!)
Do you know what I dislike? To travel alone. A person like me loves to have company, esspecially when I travel. Well, I do not like company all the time and also not too much. What funny is that I traveled to Lucerne and still had a great trip. I have seen a lot and I have to say that Lucerne is a wonderful place. I do understand why Lucerne is the one of the most famous places for the tourists in Switzerland. It is also known as the heart of Switzerland, because it is placed in the centre of the country.
Why you should go to Lucerne? There are plenty reasons of why you should go there. First of all, this is a Catholic city, so there are many nice churches to have a look at. Secondly, you get the sight from the Swiss Alps. Thirdly, the Dying Lion, a sculpture of a lion. Very facinating! Fourthly, the wooden bridge is really nice. Fifthly, there are lots of backery/ sweet shops in which you will find Luxumbugerli -which you cannot miss!
I took the train from Biel/Bienne to Olten, and from there another train to Lucerne. The travel by train was comfortable, as always. The front of the railway station in Lucerne is really nice. Beside the railway station there is a concert house. My hostfather told me that this concert house was really expensive, and special built for acoustic music.
Then I went all the way to see the Dying Lion. Beside the sculpture you will find a typical swiss house, which is a museum, called "Gletchergarten". First I thought I would not go there, because it costs something. But I could use the student card from the university, so I did not have to pay for the full ticket. And I have to say that was a clever thing that I have done. On that day they did not have so many guests, only some and a school class. I learned a bit of the ice-age that actually was for many hundred years ago in Lucerne. It is amazing to think that once upon a time the ice-age really existed. I never believed 100% in such things, but now they have proved me that. The funniest experience in this museum was a room with mirrors and you never know where to walk because you will see yourself everywhere! To visit their website, please click HERE
After I was done with the visit my stomach started to cry like a baby. It was time to catch something to eat. I went into a backery and bought a bretzel. Then I ordered a frappucino caramel in Starbucks. Yeah, we still do not have Starbucks in Norway, so I use every chance I get for Starbucks!
Then I went around in the city for window shopping. But I did not buy a thing because the city started to get crowded, and I hate shopping when all the people turned to be mad and selfish. So I went to buy Luxumburgerli instead. Oh my goodness, these sweets are so good!
All my closefriends and my family know that I am a quite clumsy person. On the way to see the wooden bridge I lost the cover of my camera under a car. I stood there for five minutes and tried to figure out how to get it back without doing something more awkward. I wondered if I should ask someone who walked by, or maybe do it myself. I guess I am used to have my boyfriennd doing such things for me.. After standing there like a questionmark I took out the umbrella which I had in my bag. BAM! The problem is solved.
I crossed the river by the wooden bridge and visited the Jusuit Church before I headed back to the railway station. By the railways station there is something called "Railcity", where you will find different shops. At the time that I visited Lucerne there was Christmas marked there as well, which you can see in my photo album HERE !
