Kilpisjärvi

We drove to Finland, Kilpisjärvi, in last week. Sorry that I haven't posted about this before, I really had no time. My mum had her birthday celebration on Saturday the 20th, so last week was all about the party. But I'm back again! Enjoy the pictures, friends ;-)

My uncle was the driver. It was a long trip.

Whenever you get bored, take pictures of people! Here you see my older brother.

Me and mum. She said herself that she looks much younger than me. I do agree.

Finally arrived in Kilpisjärvi. I thing these houses are just holiday houses..

Mum, uncle and aunt in front of the only one shopping center there.

A man riding on his snowscooter.

A snowscooter and a little red kicksled(very typical used on snow/ice).

Some trolls and stuffs on the roof... :)

Meet the snowscooters.

Oops! I found you in the shop, Skip Bo!

Finnish chocolate brand: Panda. I bought white chocolate taste with blueberry inside.

Dried meat. It says: "Oh, it's SO good!" But no, it isn't...

On our way back, we stopped at the police station in Skibotn. My brother was going to get the Norwegian passport. Here you see another kickslide.

This is my imagination of Winter Land. I took this picture in backyard or the police station.

So much snow!

This is the last one.

Shot against swineflu

On the 9th February I was with my mum to the local health station in Birtavarre. She wanted to get the shot against the swineflu. Here are some pictures! Enjoy ;-)

It snowed so much the last days. So here you see the snow/ice hanging from the roof.
Mum already waited for me in the car, as usual.. I guess I need some refreshing of Swiss culture!

The driver.

Skardalen and the ice over the sea. The ice isn't thick enough, so you can't walk over here.

Fogs over the sea. It has to be really cold though...

Scream!!!

Clean the area first.

Then pull in the shot...

.. And we're done. - Hey, that was easy!

Gosh! Look at the needle's size.. It's freaking scared me.

As we came home the sun shone so beautifully. You can see me running down to get the day's mail.
I got the result of the English exam that I had in November. Here you have my reactions!

Visa for India

I was on the phone with my bestfriend's mum, and she told me that I need visa before going to India. That is another thing which has to be fixed. Now! In case I would get in troubles, then I'd be happy that I still have some time left to fix it. But let's hope that everythingwill be fine..

The flight tickets may be cheaper than what I've imagined, but there are lots of other things which I have to spend money on. Such as vaccinations and visa. I wrote about vaccination in the last post. Read it here--> "What do you prefer?"

Well, I do want to enter into India, don't I? So I shall get visa nomatterwhat or how much it will cost, otherwise I shall cancel the whole thing, which is the most rediculous idea ever! It has be easy to make a decision, I'll fight for getting visa for sure.

I recommend you, who wants to go to India to check out about visa in good time before your departure. You can download visa application form for Norwegian nationals and other forms here--> Forms for download (I hope the link is the right one...) And a list over visa fees for Norwegian nationals you can find here--> Visa Fees

A post without picture is boring. So I picked out a random one of Taj Mahal.
This picture is a pure beauty! It's called "Indian Prayer".

Alright. I'll fill out the visa application form now. Ayeah, this will take a while...

What do you prefer?

Monday 8th Feb 2010 I got a shot against the 'Hepatitis I' in Birtavarre. I chose to take a combination shot of Hepatitis I and Hepatitis II, after their recommendation. Here is a tip for whoever wants to take a combination shot, like me, you should contact your doctor latest 2 months before your departure, because it has to last 1 month between each shot. Now that I have got my first shot, I will get the other one in March, and during a year I have to get the third one. Then I am protected against Hepatitis I& II for at least 20 years, or maybe life long. The next time I'll get the second combination shot and another one against 'Tetanus'.

Here is some pictures from the car ride to the local health station in Kåfjord.
Skardalen. I guess it is the smallest place in my community.
The sea is frosen. You can actually walk over the ice to the other side -or go ice- fishing!
Here is a man, who is fishing on the ice.
Finally we're in Birtavarre.
Birtavarre bedehus. A Gospel Hall.

Anyways, I was almost shocked that the shot costed so much. The travel to India may not cost too much, but I totally forgot about other things that I have to spend money on before the travel, such as vaccinations. I realized that it costs a lot to live a healthy life. It costs a lot to be protected from illness and disease. But why should I worry about the prices? I live just once. If I die, I cannot take money along, and it suddenly becomes worthless. If I prefer owning money instead of living a good and helthy life, then I seriously have a problem! India is one of the TOP 10 places I want to go to. As lucky as I am, I have got a chance to go, and I do not want to get ill during my stay in India. I don't want to ruin my holiday just because that I am scared of shots or afraid to spend money on them. It's rediculous. I prefer getting hurt once or twice and pay for being protected than get sick when I'm on holiday, and I do care about my worthy life.

What do you prefer? Is your life worthy to be protected?

Senja& Finnsnes

As I wrote in the last post that I joined the AFS midterm- camp the last weekend in Finnsnes. So here I am, ready to post something more about the weekend and the places I were.

Friday 5th Feb 2010: I drove to Olderdalen about 2pm to be sure that I will catch the bus at the farry port about 3pm. So I went to my mum to deliver the car and waited there for half an hour before I started to walk to the ferry port waiting for the bus. I did not miss it, luckily! I met the other two AFS girls from Nordreisa on the bus by the way. The one comes from Netherland and the other one comes from Germany, both talk Norwegian very well! In the meantime we met two others AFS girls from Hong Kong and Thailand. The bus ride was uncomfortable, because the road was so bumpy, so I couldn't catch much sleep.. After over 3hours and 30 minutes buss ride and 3 times changing the bus, we finally arrived in Finnsnes. At the bus station in Finnsnes we met two ladies, who were waiting for us to give us a lift to the school. On the way to the school I finally could see an island, Senja, the one I've heard a lot about, concerning to something called "Troll". There is a huge troll in Senja, but we didn't see it though. I told the chauffeur that I've heard a lot about the island and finally I could see it from the distance. She was so nice, she drove over the bridge, called Gisundbro, to Senja island (the second biggest island in Norway). We stopped to take pictures at the Senjastua, a restaurant just right beside the bridge. The weather was cloudy and started to snow, so I couldn't take good pictures of the bridge. When we arrived at "Trollvik skole", we had a typical AFS- camp- soup as dinner. The soup was good, as always. It always tastes like AFS- camp; warm and tasty! The soup is mainly made of water and bouillon cubes, vegetables and meat/ sausage bites. Easy, standard, but good. After that we had activities, which I find really cosy. Later that evening I made " Spicy Noodle Salad". It was successfully, thanks to the AFSers from Thailand who gave me a hand making it. Most said it was good, but some didn't like it because it was too spicy for them. For me it wasn't spicy at all, just tasty. Afterwards we sat around the table and chatted laughed with each other, untill the bed time. To be honest, I had an awefull night because I couldn't sleep.

Looks like we're a family^^

Saturday 6th Feb 2010: It snowed the last night and also on that day. I and another leader woke up at 7:50am, I think, because our group were going to prepare breakfast before 9am, but we wanted to take a shower first. The shower was cold, which is a normal experience, so I don't really mind such things. At the leader table, where I had my breakfast, I was quite quiet because I  like enjoying my breakfast without talking too much and surely because I felt extremely tired. The whole day we had different activities/ programs for the AFSers in groups. After lunch the local AFS-leader came and wanted to take pictures of all of us. We went outside to take pictures. And as the leader team was going to be taking pictures the AFS students throw snowballs on us, so we had a snowball war afterwards... If was vey funny, but extremely cold because I got whole Thailand chasing after me and throwing snowballs on me. I wanted to take my revenge on one of them, who escaped away, but the person was too fast. Haha. And then we had heaps of free time, but I, as a leader had to work, I had the private conversations with some of the students. In the evening I played Skip-Bo with AFS students, while the other were watching movie/ Melodi Grand Prix final. I find Saturday evening the best. The leaders went to bed at 3am on Sunday.. I was dead tired, so I had no problem with sleeping that night.

The leaders around the leader table. The breakfast meeting.
Lunch break. I pose with feelings!

Here we are, the whole region 5 and the leaders.

Protect yourself from being hit on your head!
Try to escape.. if you can!
Run away like there is no tomorrow...

Sunday 7th Feb 2010: There were 3 leaders(I was one of them) who woke up at 8:30am, also, later then the others. Anyways, I was the first one who got up, but the last one who sat down around the table.. Shame on me!! That day we had some programs with the students as well. They had to make poster about "Globalisation", and the winner poster will be sent to the AFS office in Oslo, where it will be shown. Every group did a good job. After the winner is voted, we had lunch, then the evaluation about the camp. I and two exchange girls, who live in Nordreisa, had to leave the place earliest, at 2:15pm. I arrived home about 6:30pm, it was a long journey, but I slept almost all the way because the road wasn't bumpy anymore and the seats on the busses were comfortable.
Snow. I totally got Christmas feelings! View from the kitchen window, frontyard.
The backyard view.
The students from my group. Some were working and some were playing.
I sat in front of the classroom writing journals from the private conversations.
I look like a teacher, they said.

These students will bring the future something good, I'm pretty sure about that.
